Brief Description: Provence offers a taste of the South of France right here in Vancouver. With a fabulous location and a patio that overlooks the Yaletown marina, Provence is a great spot for a lazy brunch in the sun.

Luckily for me, B is a culinary wizard when it comes to breakfast and so I am frequently spoilt with tasty organic bacon, perfectly scrambled free-range eggs and fat, spongy pieces of brioche French toast drizzled with maple syrup. Whilst he makes the breakfast, I sip on strong, freshly brewed coffee and lend sous chef assistance when necessary. 🙂 So, when your boyfriend makes one of the best breakfasts that a girl could ask for, it can be quite the ordeal (*grins*) to leave the comfort of home in search of a worthy contender.

Having sampled numerous brunches from all over the city, I have discovered that there are only a few breakfast places in Vancouver that are worth hanging B’s apron up for. And one of them is Provence, located on Marinaside Crescent in Yaletown. Their extensive brunch menu always keeps me happily going back for more. Not only do they cater to diners that want standard breakfast items, such as bacon and eggs, eggs Benedict, omelettes or French toast but they also offer alternatives such as antipasti, crepes, pasta, panini or steak, for those who crave something less traditional.

Deciding on what to eat for brunch at Provence can be a difficult choice to make but thankfully everything that I’ve ordered thus far has been superb. There is one item on their menu that this Greedy Guts just cannot say no to: the French Toasted Baguette. The thick wedges of baguette, which are dusted in cinnamon-sugar, are just incredible! Guys – take note: every time I tell female friends about the French Toasted Baguette they get a certain look in their eye and a small amount of drool escapes from the corner of their mouth – it really does appear to be a big hit with the ladies! (Hint, hint – take her there!)

Also open for lunch and dinner, Provence offers Vancouverites a chance to experience a taste of the South of France. With that in mind, is comes as no surprise that the menu consists of many different salads, a small selection of meat and an abundance of antipasti and seafood. The restaurant is decorated with its marina location in mind and the decor is sophisticated, yet simple. Service is always friendly and competent and I think that the prices are reasonable for brunch, especially when taking into consideration the high standard of food that you are given.

For me, the main appeal of Provence is the quality of food. The food is always fresh, always enticing and always well-presented (rather than just slapped on a plate). The quality of brunch at Provence is a welcome change from many places around town.

Final Thoughts: Brunch at Provence is a must! Grab yourself a seat on the patio, delight your taste-buds with one of their delectable brunch offerings and spend your morning people-watching. A truly great Vancouver find.
